With a strong commitment and passion to work with organizations involved in public service, Tim has dedicated his career to making a significant impact in the governmental and non-profit sectors. He began his public accounting journey in 1993, serving as the Butler City Treasurer. In 1996, Tim joined Maher Duessel, rising through the ranks to become Director and Partner of Recruiting for the firm. He serves as Partner on audit and tax engagements for a broad base of clients, including counties, cities, municipalities, municipal authorities, school districts, community development organizations, and human service organizations. A key focus area for Tim is leading audit and consulting engagements for counties and other local governments. With nearly 30 years of experience in the industry, Tim can consistently be called upon by his clients not just during audit season, but at any time during the year, when specialized insight is needed.
Tim's extensive knowledge in Single Audit compliance makes him a trusted advisor and thought leader in the industry as he has the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA's) Advanced Single Audit Certification. He also leads engagements for several clients that have received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, utilizing his experience as a long-standing member of the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Special Review Committee for Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports. Tim is a Certified Fraud Examiner as well.
A respected and engaging presenter, Tim regularly shares his expertise on governmental and non-profit auditing and accounting topics with various professional organizations. His speaking engagements include presentations on behalf of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP), Pennsylvania State Association of County Auditors, Pennsylvania State Association of County Controllers (PSACC), GFOA Pennsylvania, Local Government Academy (LGA), and the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management. His training sessions have included seminars on Fraud and Governmental Accounting. Tim also dedicates his time away from public accounting to non-profit organizations. A graduate and former Board Member of Leadership Butler County and former Board Member and Chair of Butler County United Way, Tim is Vice Chairman of Independence Health System.
