Natalie began her public accounting career in 2011 with Maher Duessel, and she was named a Principal of the firm in 2024. With a strong commitment to serving public sector entities, Natalie has a deep technical understanding of the financial reporting requirements of these entities. Natalie manages a wide range of non-profit and governmental engagements. Her nonprofit audit and tax clients include human service agencies, faith based institutions, arts, and environmental organizations. Her government clients include authorities, county entities, state agencies, municipalities, and school districts.
Due to the wide variety of public sector audits Natalie oversees, she is well versed in federal funding programs and Single Audit requirements. Natalie also has specialized experience serving non-profit organizations with multiple subsidiaries (several of which require their own separate audit and tax filings). Her experience serving large, complex entities of this nature is balanced with equal personalized attention for non-profits in the early stages of growth. A key service area for Natalie is grant compliance audits. She has experience with the financial reporting requirements for various grant programs including Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) funding requirements. Natalie currently oversees a grant audit engagement for a large local Pittsburgh based university.
Along with her client facing duties, Natalie is dedicated to strengthening internal processes at the firm through her role as Chair of the firm's Accounting and Auditing Committee. The role of this Committee is to provide the partners of the firm with timely information regarding changes to accounting, auditing, and ethics standards, develop action items to help guide the firm in adherence to the changing standards, and help to make recommendations to the Education Committee for firm-wide training.
