Katie began her public accounting career in 2005 with Maher Duessel as a Staff Auditor and steadily advanced into Manager roles for several years before being named a Principal of the firm in 2025. She manages a wide range of audit engagements for governmental organizations including municipalities, municipal authorities, county entities, housing authorities, and transportation agencies.
Her 20 years of experience in governmental financial reporting matters has provided her a sound foundation to excel in her role as a volunteer reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA’s) Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) Program. The PAFR program was developed to encourage local governments to develop financial reports that would be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public and other interested parties without a background in public finance. The PAFR program recognizes individual governments that are successful in achieving that goal. Katie utilizes her experience in this role to help her clients understand complex financial reporting manners in a clear and concise manner.
In the non-profit sector, she directs audit and tax engagements for private schools, community development organizations, member-based organizations, human service agencies, religious organizations, and libraries. As many of her clients receive federal funding, she has extensive experience with all aspects of Single Audit compliance. Katie has been dedicated to participating in the firm’s annual Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program by leading training sessions at the firm’s annual governmental and non-profit updates. Her seminar topics have included Municipal Statistics, updates regarding Statements on Auditing Standards, and IRS Form 990 Common Errors.
