Jeff began his public accounting career in 2002 with Maher Duessel, and he was named Partner in 2016. For several years, Jeff directed a wide range of governmental and non-profit audit and tax engagements including municipalities, counties, state agencies, HUD funded entities, authorities, charter schools, human service providers, and educational organizations. While he continues to oversee audit engagements, Jeff's practice is now predominantly focused on consulting services. From his experience directing these engagements and cultivating successful relationships with his clients, Jeff recognized that their needs went beyond just standard audits and tax filings. He recognized his clients' desire for help to strengthen their financial operations overall. As an example, since 2017, Jeff has provided guidance to a state agency to improve their financial processes and reporting systems. Jeff also leads a consulting engagement for a county human service agency with a budget of over $1 billion where he assists with many aspects of grant management and reporting.
Jeff has comprehensive technical proficiency with Single Audit Compliance. He has received the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA's) Advanced Single Audit Certification. He also effectively utilizes his experience as a member of the Government Finance Officers Association Special Review Committee for Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFRs). Jeff's consulting practice includes directing engagements that assist with preparation of ACFRs, grant accounting, audit and accounting assistance, financial statement preparation, and assistance with improvements to internal controls. His consulting clients include state agencies, county entities, and colleges/universities, and Jeff thrives on the problem-solving aspects of the services he offers.
When he is not serving clients, Jeff has been dedicated to volunteering on state and local accounting boards and committees including the GFOA Pennsylvania State Board, and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). A graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh, Jeff has served for several years on the Finance Committee of Auberle, a Western Pennsylvania human service agency.
