Dustin D. Starr, CPA

Dustin began his public accounting career in 2009, joined Maher Duessel in 2010, and he was named a Principal of the firm in 2024.  Dustin directs a broad range of governmental and non-profit audit, tax, and consulting engagements including municipalities, municipal authorities, school districts, transportation authorities, human service agencies, and economic development agencies. With several of his clients administering programs supported by federal funds, he has extensive knowledge in Single Audit compliance. Due to Dustin's lengthy experience working with governments such as local authorities, municipalities, and school districts, he assists in leading Maher Duessel's bond verification, debt services, and arbitrage practice. He has assisted with several bond verification and arbitrage rebate calculation engagements over the years for state agencies, counties, municipal authorities, and school districts.

Aside from client work, Dustin is a member of the Maher Duessel Education Committee, and he assists with planning the firm's annual Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Program consisting of annual governmental and nonprofit updates. Dustin regularly presents training sessions at Maher Duessel's annual seminars, and he has also spoken at the GFOA-PA's (Government Finance Officers Association) Annual Conference. He is particularly knowledgeable with respect to Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) updates, and he enjoys sharing information on these topics whether it be through a presentation or by spending additional time with a client.
